Pocatello- Alta Lucy Southworth, 83, passed away peacefully, Tuesday September 25, 2012 at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho.

She was born in Pocatello on July 11,1929, the daughter of Chester Lloyd and Vivian Mae Harris Southworth.

She attended schools in Pocatello. She married Donald Lee Jackson in the early 1950's, They traveled throughout the United States until the birth of their son Larry on December 19, 1953 in Boise, Idaho. Alta and Don eventually moved to Tacoma Washington, where their daughter, Dawn was born on June 29, 1963. They divorced later that year.

Alta worked in the service industry. She was employed at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton, Oregon and later at Pocatello Regional Hospital. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She truly enjoyed singing with the Silver Chords. She loved to dance with the Silver Tops and at the Senior Center in Pocatello. She enjoyed shopping at stores and yard sales for bargains. She will be greatly missed by best friend Charlie Smith and many others.

She is survived by her son ,Larry Jackson, Salt Lake City, Utah; her daughter, Dawn Jackson, Portland, Oregon; two brothers, Dwain Southworth, Malta, Idaho; Melvin Southworth, Salt Lake City, Utah; five sisters, Dorothy Freeman, Pocatello; Larene Wohlche, Pendleton, Oregon; LaVeda Price, Pocatello; JoAnn Loughney, Logan, Utah; Ginger Shepard, Pocatello. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave., with President John Hofman officiating. Interment will be in the Norton Cemetery, McCammon, Idaho.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
