Benjamin Maxwell DeYoung died peacefully at home on August 28th, 2023. He was born April 1st, 1976 in Duarte, California to Barbara Ruth Maxwell and Michael James DeYoung. He was the third of four rambunctious boys. He grew up mainly in Pocatello, Idaho with a few years living in Frankfort, Indiana with his mom.
During his school years, he swam competitively and lettered as a Sophomore while attending Frankfort High School in Indiana. He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1994. He went on to earn an Associate’s Degree from Idaho State University. He then worked for Micron in Boise, Idaho. After a few years, he returned to Pocatello and got on at AMI Semiconductors. He then went
to work for Laser Express where he worked until his passing.
Ben enjoyed many things. He loved all genres of music, reading, computer games, Nascar and Formula 1 racing, watching the Golden Knights hockey games, and helping people, especially the elderly and his family. His dream was to attend the Le Mans in France. He also had a long standing relationship with Captain Morgan.
He loved animals, especially dogs. Ben always had a dog or two. He also loved being an uncle. Ben had ten nieces and nephews plus friends’ children that he spoiled and supported in everything they did. They all loved him for his personality and sense of humor. Good ole Uncle Bent.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Bergendorf, (Dennis), his brothers Jon (Mary), and Matt, his favorite step-sister, Christine (Shawn), step-brother Dennis (Pam), sister-in-law, Janine Jordan, and 10 nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his father, Michael DeYoung, and a brother, Christopher DeYoung.
As Ben would say, “Gotcha!”
Memorial service for Ben will be held at 11am on Tuesday Sept. 5, 2023 at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel
