Pocatello-Betty Jean Toomey Taylor, 84, lifelong resident of Pocatello, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 15, 2011 following a brief illness.

She was born on February 6, 1927 in Pocatello, a daughter of Martha Jane Hern Butterfield and Arthur Lee Toomey.

In her early years, her family lived a brief period of time in Oregon during World War II where she worked as a welder in the shipyards. After returning to Pocatello, she worked for the Troy-Parisian Company and Kraft Foods where she met her future husband Steve Edward Taylor. They married on September 25, 1946 in Lima, Montana and together they had five children who loved and adored them both.

Betty was an avid reader, wonderful homemaker, wife and mother. She was a member of the LDS Church.

She is survived by her children, two daughters, Leslie (Rick) Henry, Pocatello; Becky (Bruce) Bates, Blackfoot; three sons, Steve (Debora) Taylor, Inkom; Mark (Kim)Taylor. Pocatello; Glen (Jan) Taylor South Jordon, Utah; Also, one sister, Murial Davis, Blackfoot; one sister-in-law. Bonnie (Joe) Bolton; one brother, Lance (Julie) Toomey, Ferndale, Washington. Betty has 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Friday,September 23, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. The family will receive friends starting at 11:30 a.m. with services following. Interment will be in the Robin Cemetery, Robin, Idaho.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
