Pocatello - Bob Gene Tripp, 85, lifelong resident of Pocatello, passed away Tuesday evening February 25, 2014, at his home following an extended illness He was surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 6, 1928, in Pocatello, Idaho, a son of Jesse Earl and Naomi Kidman Tripp. He attended schools in Pocatello and later joined the National Guard.

On December 31, 1954, he married LaRae Brower in Pocatello.

As a young man, Bob worked as a Bell Hop at the Bannock and Whitman Hotels. He also worked at Troy Parisian Laundry. He later owned and operated City Dry Cleaners for 24 years. He then owned a used car dealership for many years until he retired. He was known as "Mr. Fix It " and was truly a "Jack of all trades".

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, (especially at Coffee Pot Campground in Island Park) and spending time with his family. He and LaRae belonged to a Square Dance Club for several years.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, LaRae Tripp, of Pocatello, Idaho; 3 sons, Reo Glenn Davis, Fairbanks, Alaska; Randall Lloyd (Colleen) Shelton-Davis, Pocatello; Bob Gene (Julie) Tripp Jr.,Pocatello; 3 daughters, Deborah Rae Davis Smith, Soda Springs, Idaho; Stephanie Kay Tripp (Michael) Millward, Pocatello, Idaho; Heather Dawn Tripp (Chris) Parkinson, Kennewick, Washington; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gibson Jack Ward L.D.S. Chapel (8200 W. Portneuf Road) with Bishop Shawn Jepson, of the Gibson Jack Ward officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends evening Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and on Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the church prior to services.

Funeral services are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.

The Tripp family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Travis Nielsen, Dr. Blaine Olsen, care givers David Moore and Sagean Daw and the staff at Encompass Home Health and Hospice for the loving care they gave to our husband, dad, and grandpa.
