Cecelia Stratton Farnes

Cecelia S. Farnes, of Chubbuck, was born in Logan UT to Alfred (Bill) Stratton and Helen Robbins Stratton on April 17, 1959. She was taken home to her Heavenly Father on October 9, 2017, after valiantly coping with terminal cancer. She passed away peacefully in her home.
Cecelia is survived by her mother Helen as well as by her sister Annette Green and her three brothers: Daniel, Thomas, and Ronald Stratton. She is also survived by her husband Scott Farnes and her children: Sherilynn Goodworth, Kayleen Leith, Angela Smith, Melica Hill, Quenton Farnes, Dallin Farnes, Valerie Bachman, and Braeden Farnes. She is preceded in death by her sister Sharon Stratton and her father Bill Stratton.
Cecelia was the oldest of six children. In her childhood, she was a spunky girl who loved and led her siblings by the hand as a welcoming friend. From the time she was two years old, Cecelia loved to play the piano; she became an accomplished musician.
Cecelia played the piano, organ, and clarinet in school, church, and community organizations for over 40 years. Cecelia was joined in her love of music by her husband Elman Scott Farnes in 1979 when they became a living duet. One of Scott and Cecelia’s greatest joys has come from teaching and performing music with their 8 children and 17 grandchildren.
When Cecelia wasn’t playing the piano or singing, she spent her time refining her talents in crocheting, sewing, calligraphy, needlepoint, and cake decorating. She was a wonderful cook and often made banquet-like dinners for her family and friends. However, Cecelia’s greatest talent was in the love and kindness that lived inside her. She was a friend to all, mother to all, and her home was always open! Those who knew her found that she was only comfortable while in the service of others.
A celebration of Cecelia’s life will be held on Saturday, October 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS chapel located at 4775 Hawthorne Rd. (the corner of Chubbuck and Hawthorne). There will also be a viewing on Friday, October 13 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel located at 510 N. 12th Ave. as well as on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Mountainview Cemetery.
