Inkom - Cecil Leroy Long, 75, passed away after a long illness on Monday, October 1, 2012. Cecil was born in Crescent, Oklahoma,on July 21, 1937, the son of Alfred G. "Short" and Veda F. Kirkhart Long. The family moved to Kuna, Idaho and began farming. Cecil later enlisted in the military at the age of 17 and served our country in both the United States Navy and Air force. Cecil was a weather man in the Navy and learned to fly in the Air Force, which he was very proud of.

Cecil attended the University of Southern California and obtained coursework in heating ,ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) wherein he began his career as a Journeyman in Riverside, California. Cecil moved his family to Salt Lake City, Utah and became a partner in a local HVAC business. He worked in Salt Lake City for ten years then moved his family to Inkom, Idaho. Cecil started his own HVAC business "Long and Associates" in Pocatello and there he worked on a multitude of major commercial businesses throughout the Pocatello area. Cecil also became an instructor for the Boilermaker Union and taught their HVAC apprentices. He worked for over thirty years, until he retired in 2002.

Cecil was a World War II history buff and had an extensive collection of military weapons. Cecil loved the outdoors and called this land "God's Country."

He is survived by his wife, Nola and two daughters, Cherrie (Ron) and Lisa (Kevin) and five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one-on-the-way. ...And as Cecil would say, "Glad you got to see me."

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at the Inkom Cemetery, Inkom, Idaho. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. Arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
