Christopher Glenn Mathews

Chubbuck - Christopher Glenn Mathews, born on October 13, 1982, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2012. Chris is survived by family and friends who cherish him and will miss him.

Chris enjoyed many hobbies and work related activities. Among his talents were welding, cooking, storytelling and sharing his great smile with his friends and family. Chris had a great love for his family, friends and his marine brothers.

Chris served in the United States Marine Corps infantry from May 5, 2003 through May 4, 2007. During his enlistment, he participated in two tours for Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2004, Chris' 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Division spearheaded Operation Vigilant Resolve to remove terrorists from Fallujah, Iraq. In 2005, Chris' unit participated in Operation Steel Curtain on the Syrian border to clear terrorists from Iraqi towns in Al Anbar Province along the Syrian border. During the offensive, Chris, with no concern for his own safety, exposed himself to enemy gunfire to retrieve a wounded marine and was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with V for Valor.

Chris' smile was brightest when fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle with friends and family. Chris enjoyed training and spending time with his dogs over the years.

For those wishing to honor Chris' memory his family asks that in lieu of flowers the money is donated to the Wounded Warriors Project in Chris' honor. The Mathews family will host an open house to celebrate Chris' life at a time and place soon to be announced.
