Daniel Cloyd Saurey

Pocatello- Daniel C. Saurey, 77, of Pocatello passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born March 25, 1934 in Pocatello, Idaho, the son of Cloyd Russell and Ruth Ellen Thompson Saurey.

He attended elementary schools in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School the class of 1952. He attended I.S.U. He began meat cutting at the age of 14.

He married Elaine A. Bauman on May 16, 1959 in Trappe, Pennsylvania. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1960.

He worked at Frazier's Market for several years. Dan and Elaine purchased Bill's Food Center on Yellowstone in Chubbuck and changed the name to Dan's Food Center which they operated for 13 years. He worked at the I.N.L. as an asbestos inspector for 5 years. He returned to meat cutting at Great Western Foods in Idaho Falls, Idaho until his passing. He enjoyed boating, fishing, tinkering with electronics.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had served as the High Priest Group Secretary in the Highland 1st Ward. He served in scouting and as a ward missionary. He was currently in the High Priest Group Leadership in the 41st ward. He was a great supporter of the Special Olympics.

His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Saurey, Pocatello; son, Richard Todd Saurey, Pocatello; a daughter, Jodi (Brandon Harada, meridian, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, Breana, Joshua, Nicholas, Dani, KaLani, Colton, Sami, Nic, Yukika, Kaylie, Erika, Riley. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, David Cloyd Saurey.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Pocatello 41st ward Chapel (1700 Kinghorn Ave. ) with Bishop Mark Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and on Wednesday from 12:00 noon to 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to services.

Interment will be in the Mountainview Cemetery with military rites provided by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard and the Idaho Honor Guard.
