Elisabeth Langford Barlow

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Elisabeth Langford Barlow, who left us suddenly on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025, from complications four days post-cancer surgery. She was 42.

Elisabeth is the youngest of six, born April 26, 1983, in Lander, Wyoming, to James and Yvonne Langford. Her oldest siblings all doted on her, but despite their best efforts, Lis never became spoiled. She loved family, friends, and music, and was a constant source of joy to all those who knew her. She also deeply loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Her family moved to Pocatello, Idaho, when she was 7 years old, and it quickly became home for her. She attended Highland High School, where she went on her first date with Ray Barlow. They’ve been together ever since, marrying in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 23, 2003.

Lis attended first BYU—Idaho, a semester at BYU—Hawaii, and then Idaho State University, graduating in 2005 with her bachelor’s in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology. She worked at Portneuf Medical Center for more than 16 years, first as a medical laboratory scientist, then as a point-of-care coordinator. When her family moved in 2024 to Ottumwa, Iowa, she worked as a medical technologist at the Pella Regional Health Center, followed by systems analyst at Ardent Health.

She was an enthusiastic sports mom, cheering on her kids atvarious baseball, football, and especially the softball games coached by her husband, Ray. She also sang and played piano, as well as violin from age 4, including in symphonies at BYU—Idaho and Idaho State Civic Symphony. Most importantly, she was a loving wife and mother. In all she did, she exemplified the teachings of Jesus Christ and shared with her five children her deep testimony. She taught by example, through her church callings and regular temple attendance.

Lis leaves behind her husband Ray and five children, ages 19-5: Lauren, Callie, Brayden, Gemma, and Porter. She is also survived by her mother, Yvonne, and siblings Carrie (Glade), Todd, Catherine, David, and Doug (Michelle). She was greeted in the Spirit World by her father, James, and Grandparents.
