Evelyn Faye (Millsaps) Austin

Evelyn Faye Millsaps Austin, 78, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021 in Chubbuck, Idaho surrounded by her loving family.  Evelyn was born in Fruita, Colorado on June 22, 1943 to Ben Herman Millsaps and Effie May MarksBerry Millsaps. She was raised in Grand Junction, Colorado with her four sisters. Evelyn had fond memories of growing up in a home where her mother had also provided a home for the elderly.
She attended and graduated school in Grand Junction, Colorado. She married Willy Walker, and had three children together, Wade, Deborah (Debby) and Cynthia, and two step children, Tom Walker and Bonnie Walker. they were later divorced. She remarried in 1964 to Oliver Roscoe Austin and had four more children, Roscoe, Deena, James and Robert (Dan)  She was a homemaker but also did sewing and ironing jobs for extra money from home. Later, after her children had grown, she worked as a cashier, a cook at Hillcrest Haven, then as a home health and hospice caregiver. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and crafting, but her greatest love was taking care of her children and grandchildren. She had fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.
Evelyn always went out of her way to help anyone she could. Her children remember her giving a coat in the winter to any child that didn’t have one. She was the kind of person that would give her own shirt off of her back if someone needed it.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Lynn and Sally, her parents Ben and Effie, her sisters, June, Edith, Vada, Gladys, and Beverly, her husband Roscoe, and her children Cynthia, Roscoe, James and Wade. She is survived by her children Debby Walker, Deena Dye and Anthony (Tony) Crombie, Dan and Julie Austin, and her daughter in law Goldie Walker. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
A memorial service and lunch will be held for friends and family on Saturday, September 18, 2021 starting at 2:00 pm at the home of Dan and Julie Austin at 201 W Siphon Rd, Chubbuck, ID. 83202.
