Floyd Lavern Babbitt

Floyd Lavern Babbitt,86,passed away June 29, 2015.

Floyd was born on Sept. 23, 1928 in Pocatello, the son of Richard Floyd and Ruth Marie Hennefer Babbitt. His Aunt Millie Hennefer, a midwife delivered him at home.

He married Eunice Jorgensen on 12 Aug, 1948 and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple, June 1970.

He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked in the scouting program and loved it. Also served as a member of a bishopric and on the High Council, managing the buildings for many years. He considered his home teaching families to be of the up most importance.

He attended Roosevelt Elementary & Franklin Jr. High. He could only attend school until the 8th grade because his father was not in good health. That was never an excuse for not continuing to learn. If there was anything that needed to be done, he learned to do it.

He spent his growing up years in his grandparents' home which set his heart in welcoming family into his own home. If he saw someone in need, he tried to help. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a switchman, conductor, and brakeman.

He loved farming and wanted a piece of land of his own. This love came from going to Thomas and staying with his aunt and uncle and grandparents. He learned to handle a team of horses, stack hay, and care for the animals. He learned by watching others carefully; lots of on the job training. Then, he came up with ideas on how to do it better. He finally did get that little piece of land in Virginia.

He was a very quiet kind man. He loved his family, especially his dear wife Eunice. He was a devoted member of his church.

He is survived by his wife Eunice Babbitt and children Connie Romriell, Carolyn Dustin, Bonnie Nelson, Cheryl Tilley, Richard Babbitt and his sister Theda McHuge.

He was proceeded in death by his mother Ruth Marie Hennefer and father Richard Floyd Babbitt, brothers Eugene Babbitt, Harry Keith Babbitt
