Jake Sheldon McKenna, age 39, a beloved son, brother, father, uncle and friend passed away on Sunday, November 13th, 2022 at 3:05pm. Jake was born November 7th, 1983 in Bountiful, Utah.
In his formative years, Jake spent hours with his sisters building creative fun using pogs, k’nex, legos, forts, and rubber band guns. He was active in sports and enjoyed playing soccer with his high school friends. He graduated from Snake River High School in 2002. Jake loved the outdoors. Nature itself was a part of who he was and enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, wakeboarding and in Jakes own words, “I will continue my thrill seeking until I die.” He served in the United States Navy from September 2002 to September 2006 aboard the USS Nimitz. After serving in the military Jake married Tamara Hanff and parted ways amicably in 2015. On November 6th 2016, Jake and Taya celebrated the birth of their son, Lukas Dale McKenna.
Jake is survived by his son: Lukas McKenna; parents: Karen Christian, Sheldon McKenna (Elizabeth); siblings and their spouses: Megan(Monte), Lindsay, Laura, Holly(Kyle), Shelbie(Austin), Parker, Blaine, Cameron, Devan, Braden, Quentin, Taylor; grandparents: Carol Williams and Vaola Christensen; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Jake was predeceased by grandparents: Deloy and Mary Lou McKenna; grandfathers: Larry Christian and Grant Christiansen; nephew: Lincoln Ward; and best canine companion, Toby.
Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 13979 West Siphon Road, Pocatello, Idaho 83202 on November 21st at 11:00 am, with viewing at 9:30 am and interment at Bloomington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to help pay for funeral expenses. Donations can be made to Megan Ward (sister) @muggles17
