Jean E. Thomas, 87, passed away November 9, 2017 in Pocatello.   She suffered a stroke ten days earlier.  Jean was born in Pocatello September 10, 1930 to Ernest L. Ellis and Alice Banyard. She was very proud of her fireman father.  She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1948 in the same class as her sister Geraldine.
After graduation she worked for Fargo’s department store in Pocatello and American Oil in Salt Lake City.  When her father passed away she returned to Pocatello to be with her mother and younger sister, Nancy. She worked for Deaton and Company and for Bannock County in Pocatello.
On August 31 1968 she married Harold B. (Hallie) Thomas in the Idaho Falls Temple and became a beloved and respected part of his family.  She was a faithful leader and follower in her Church.  She served as a Relief Society president and as a scribe for Patriarchal Blessings for more than 20 years.
Jean survived by David (Kathe) Thomas, Judy (Jim) Smith, Alan (Bev) Thomas and Mark (Carla) Thomas, 19 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.  She was pre-deceased by granddaughters , Jodi Gayle Smith and Mindy Marie Swenson.  She is also survived by her sisters Geraldine (Richard) Harvey and Nancy (Dan) Anthony; brothers Bud (Mary) and Paul (Barbara) and 18 nieces and nephews. Her brother Don (InaJo) and sister Gloria Stedtfelt (Bob) also preceded her.
Services will be held at 11am on Tues. Nov. 14, 2017 at the Caldwell Park LDS Chapel. (135 S. 7th Ave.)  A viewing will be from 6-8pm on Mon. Nov. 13, 2017 at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel (510 N. 12th Ave.) and on Tues. 1 hour prior to services at the church.  Interment will be in Mountainview Cemetery.
