Jessie Wanda George was born on August 22, 1930 in Wendell, Idaho to Joseph Wann and Johanna Christina Pehrson Phillips George. She passed away at the Power County Nursing Home in American Falls, Idaho Dec. 15, 2016
Her family moved back to Aberdeen, Idaho when she was one year old, where she was reared and educated. She graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1948. On December 16, 1947 she married Ralph Andrew Slimp. Two daughters were born to this union. They were later divorced.
On November 23, 1959 she married Leo Peter Friesen. They were later divorced. On May 8, 1973 she married Thomas Guy Brown, with whom she lived until his death.
In early life she helped her father and nearby farmers, driving tractor and truck, while both of her brothers were in the armed forces. She cut potatoes in the spring, and helped harvest in the fall. While cutting spuds for the Kendall Brothers she increased her speed till she cut 100 sacks per day, and was noted as the fastest cutter in the Aberdeen area.
In 1949 her father retired and they moved into town, where she went to work at the Aberdeen Times as a bookkeeper. She later worked at the Idaho Potato Growers.
When she married Leo, they moved to American Falls, ID. She went to work for Art’s Machine Shop, where she worked as a bookkeeper for 6 ½ years.
After their divorce, she tended bar for the Sagebrush Inn, and later for El Rancho Bar in Inkom, Id.
In 1973 she moved to Pocatello, ID and worked for Geo. Primbs & Sons as their bookkeeper for 3 ½ years. In 1979 she became partners with Jean Allen and bought Robbers Roost in McCammon, ID. She bought out her partner in 1984, and renamed it Lil Brown Jug.
Her hobbies were crocheting, needle point, reading, ceramics, and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, three sisters, (Hazel Tinker, Edna Weeks, and Berthie Thornton), two brothers,(Harding George, and Lavonne George), her husband,( Guy Brown), and one grandson,( Troy Daniels).
She is survived by her two daughters, Konni (Perry)) Petersen and Wanda Reynolds, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and also several nieces, nephews, and step children
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave.
The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Norton Cemetery, McCammon, Idaho.
