Katherine Andros, 82 passed away on August 17, 2025 peacefully at Spring Creek Memory Care in Boise, ID. Katherine was surrounded by love at her passing. Katherine was born on May 10,1943 in Chania, Crete Greece. She was the only child of George Dudunakis. She had two older siblings by her mom Maria Bikaki. Katherine was the beautiful mother of Tina Andros (Bowler), Maria Andros (Sfirakis), and Manoli Andros.
Katherine loved being from Chania, Crete, and she spent her childhood and early adult life there. She made sure that her kids experienced the beauty of her hometown by taking them to spend many summers there. When she was in her early twenties, she became a flight attendant for Olympic Airlines. She was the first woman from her island to work for Olympic. She flew the friendly skies of Europe, experiencing the beauty of many cities there. In those times it was a great job and she loved it. However, she wanted to become a mother. She felt it was her calling. So she met George Andros when she was visiting her sister in Pocatello, Idaho. There she got engaged and later married. They lived in Pocatello for most of their lives with their family. They formed strong bonds with many people in Pocatello and Salt Lake City where they would frequently take the family to parties in the Greek Community.
Her most important and proud accomplishment was raising her three kids. They could not have asked for a more dedicated, devoted, kind, funny, loving mother. Her life was with her children and her five grandsons who she cherished with all her heart. She always wanted boys, and having five grandsons was a blessing to her.
Katherine and George always had a strong faith and remained close to the Greek Orthodox church in Pocatello. They were both active in the Greek community and remained close to their heritage. They both raised their kids in the faith. We were so blessed to be raised with strong values and morals, which we now pass on to our own children. Life wasn't always perfect, but we had a strong foundation to lean on.
Katherine was an incredibly kind person, with a keen sense of humor and a strong will. She always would say that she inherited her strong will and honesty from the Dudunakis side (her father's side). She had a beautiful smile that lit up a room, and a heart of gold. She loved to laugh and have fun. She was extremely generous, always giving to those in need regardless of her own circumstances. That was instilled in her from a young age, and she carried it with her for her entire life.
Katherine was loved by all who met her, young and old. Our friends would call her "mamma" as they too felt very close to her. People enjoyed being around her, and her cooking was out of this world. Her and George would often have dinner parties for Sunday dinner. She loved to dance and be around people. She loved life in general! She used to always say. "Today is a new day." Later in life she moved to Boise where she lived with her daughter Tina. She had three little dogs Zeus, Apollo, and Athena which she loved with all her heart.
Katherine's passing is a loss that many will feel because she was someone who made an impact on so many people's lives. She will be remembered fondly by all her knew her. As the famous quote from "It's a Wonderful Life" says, "No man is a failure who has friends." And Katherine was blessed with friends until the very last day of her life.
Funeral services will be held in Pocatello on August 29th at 11am, viewing at 10am. She will be buried at Mountain View Cemetery next to her husband. A luncheon in her honor will follow.
