April 3, 1945 — October 18, 2020

Kenneth L. Coburn

Kenneth Lloyd Coburn was born in Soda Springs, Idaho on  April 3,1945 to Elzo and Betty Coburn. After a heroic battle with cancer, he passed at his home in Sequim, Washington, with family by his side,  at the age of 75 years on October 18, 2020.

Ken grew up ranching in Idaho and his love and respect for the land and it’s animals was engrained in him and passed to his family. Eventually he moved to Utah, married Janith Leth  on March 25, 1966 and entered the Army two months later and soon had his son, Timothy Coburn. Ken was honorably discharged as a Sargent. He was active duty until 1968 and was in the reserves until 1972. He was awarded the national defense service medal, Vietnam service medal, army communications medal with v device, combat infantryman badge,  Vietnam campaign medal, and two Purple hearts.

Ken moved to Denver, Colorado after his active duty was complete. There he learned to be an electrician and his family grew by two daughters. First Lorie Coburn then Cynthia Coburn. The family then moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where Ken continued his trade and eventually built his own business. After 20 years of marriage Ken and Jan separated and eventually divorced.

In 1985 he went to work in Washington as the economy had bottomed out in Grand Junction. While there he met Mary Ann Beisel and they were a couple for the rest of his days. Ken and Mary Ann moved back to Grand Junction and lived there until 2012 when he retired and moved to Sequim, Washington where the lower elevation was beneficial to his lung condition. Ken filled his free time throughout the years with hunting, fishing, camping, dirt bikes, four wheeling, anything adventurous that left hours of story telling and laughter that will continue for years to come.

He is survived by Mary Ann Beisel, his children, Timothy Coburn (Tina Coburn), Lorie Doyle (Brian Doyle), Cynthia Scott (Brian Scott), his grandchildren, Eloisa Wickoren (Tom Wickoren), Levi Scott, Morgan Doyle, Delanie Scott, Mason Scott, his great-grand children, Kaedin Wickoren, Colson Odegard, his siblings, Barbara Coburn, and Terri Dunkle. Preceded in death by his parents, Elzo and Betty Coburn, his siblings, Kathleen Parsley, Arden Coburn, his grandson, Brian Michael Doyle Jr.
