LaVaun Boren Hudson

Pocatello - LaVaun "Vonnie" Boren Hudson, 80, life long residence of Pocatello joined her son in heaven when she passed away at her home on Saturday, March 30, 2013.

She was born November 29, 1932 in Pocatello, Idaho the 9th of 10 children of Jess Reed and Josephine Read Boren.

She attended schools in Pocatello including Pocatello High School. On July 7, 1952, she married Gaylord W. Hudson in San Francisco (following 3 day courtship) as he was stationed there in the Navy prior to his deployment to Guam during the Korean War.

As a young girl in high school, she worked as an elevator operator at one of the downtown buildings and Kraft foods. She had many hobbies that she enjoyed. She enjoyed fishing with her sister, camping and traveled many miles on road trips with her husband Gaylord on his motorcycle. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gaylord W. Hudson, Pocatello, Idaho; a son, Robert W. Hudson, Leakesville, Mississippi; a daughter, Gayleen H. (Clay) Chilton, Pocatello, Idaho; a sister, Dorothy Robinson, Pocatello, Idaho; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Ronald K. Hudson, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 1:00 p,m. at Mountainview Cemetery (Section 50 West) with Bishop Lynn Buckley of the Alameda L.D.S. Fifth Ward officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and on Thursday from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
