Lawrence Jay Lewis

Lawrence (Larry) J Lewis died today, cutting his earthly bonds and, as was his belief, gone to meet his Maker. His loved ones are thankful his battle with lung cancer is over and bless his journey, knowing he'll find Love, Peace and no more pain when he arrives.

Larry was a primo Plumber/Pipefitter by trade and of such quality worked for outfits that sent him around the country to ramrod plumbing installations from big motel chains to working at sites in Nuclear Facilities throughout his career. He was a proud Plumber & Pipefitter's Union member. In the 70's, working on huge breakdown warehouses in Tacoma, WA to be shipped to the Alaska Pipeline, Larry showed them how to prefab fittings, installing whole sections of finished plumbing in the walls, saving the company untold thousands in expense and construction time at the job site.

He returned to Idaho to help look after his aging parents and retired here. Busy as Dad was he managed to get his daughters to Father/Daughter dances and his sons to Y Indian Guide meetings. He taught us all by word and example his strong work ethics, and he loved playing Santa even in years of tough times. Dad took us to the Ocean and Yellowstone Park, picnics and swimming at the lake. Larry kissed his wife a lot and we had fun watching them dance around the living room to old 50's and 60's music. Children gravitated to Dad as he was not a bit afraid to get right down to their level and get wet, play tag, or make funny faces.

Larry was good at and liked Bowling, Horseshoes, Archery and also pretty darn good at "Kick the Can". He loved motorcycle riding and spent many years going from job site to job site on a 750 Honda, he and wife Sherlin also enjoyed being members of the Pocatello Motorcycle Club in Pocatello.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Sherlin; daughters Becky (Wayne) Nelson & Maggie Lewis; son Robert (Sheila) Lewis; grandchildren, great grandchildren; nieces & nephews; brothers Ronald (Maxine) Lewis & Darrell (Linda) Lewis; sisters Veladine Smith & Deanne (Andrew) Smith; sister-in-law Cheryl Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence Sr. & Margaret Lewis; brother Steven Lewis; brother-inlaw Calvin Smith; son Michael & daughter-in-law Sandy Lewis. "... Don't cry for me my loved ones, because we are apart. If you want to have me near you, all just look inside your heart." Jamie Scott AC.2003
