Lynn G. Henderson, age 89, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2024, at Portneuf Medical Center.
Lynn was born on February 20, 1935, in Downey, Idaho. His parents were Glen (Cy) and Jennie Henderson. He was the oldest of four children, with two sisters and a brother.
Growing up, Lynn lived on a farm his parents had recently purchased southwest of Downey. It was here, at a very young age, that he learned the value of hard work.
A couple of months after graduating, Lynn married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Hartman. To this union, three children were born: Greg, Sid, and Sandy. While raising their family in Downey and later in Inkom, they enjoyed spending most summers camping and exploring the great outdoors.
Lynn held various jobs throughout his life. He bought a truck and operated a milk route for nearly 15 years. Concurrently, he worked at Larsen’s Market, where he gained experience in meat cutting and the slaughterhouse business. From this time until his retirement, Lynn worked as a meat cutter and served as the meat manager.
Upon retiring, Lynn and Shirley became snowbirds, spending ten years in Big River, California. They cherished their time there, but due to Shirley’s declining health, they decided to stay close to home in Inkom. After losing his wife of sixty-one years, Lynn decided to once again to go south where he had several wonderful friends. He spent the next eight winters in Quartzsite, Arizona and was able to enjoy many trips around the United States.
Lynn spent his final years back in Inkom, where he could often be found working in his yard. Aside from his family, Lynn had a deep love of animals, which brought him immense joy.
Lynn was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his parents Glen and Jennie Henderson, his sister Treva Morrison, and a baby sister.
He is survived by his brother Wayne (Darlene) Henderson, his three children Greg (Cheryl) Henderson, Sid (JoJan) Henderson, and Sandy (Ed) Peterson, as well as 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Per Lynn’s wishes, he was cremated under the direction of Manning Wheatley Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Downey Cemetery. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
