Lynn Dell Tyler

Lynn D. Tyler, 84, of Pocatello, Idaho passed away peacefully at his home Sunday afternoon January 27, 2013. He was born the sixth of ten children July 21, 1928 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Harvey and Lenora Tyler. He attended schools in Pocatello and later attended the University of Utah.

On July 19, 1949 he married his sweetheart Lorraine Dilworth in the Idaho Falls temple. They began their family in Pocatello, Idaho and later moved to Bountiful, Utah. In 1967 they moved their family to Walnut Creek, California where they lived until 1998 when they returned to the Pocatello area. They are the proud parents of eight children (seven living), 43 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren. Lynn worked 40 years as an electrical engineer for AT&T until he retired in 1998.

Lynn was very active in the LDS church where he served as a scout master, stake missionary, and many other callings. He loved going to girls' camp with his wife and daughters and taking his sons and the scouts on countless outings where he instilled in them testimonies of the gospel and righteous living. His life was one of service, always extending love and acceptance to everyone he encountered. He had a gift to find the lonely, the widowed and inactive and enfold them in his embrace of love and acceptance.

Lynn loved to work on projects around the house and helping others with their projects. He loved working with his kids and grandkids as they learned beside him the lessons of life. He lived his testimony and loved and served others wherever he could.

Together with his wife, Lorraine, they were privileged to serve three full time missions: Oakland California Cambodian Mission, Scotland Edinburgh Mission 1992-1994, and Mainland China (Xian) 1999-2000.

Lorraine passed away in 2007 and in 2010 he married Marie J. Stevenson for time in the Logan temple. Marie has been a tremendous blessing and treasure to Lynn during their short time together. Her tender love and care for him as endeared her to all those around her.

He is survived by their children Kaylene (David) DeMasi, Concord, CA; Dawn (James) Smith, Highland. UT; David (Rebecca) Tyler, Orem, UT; Teriesa (Gordon) Burt, Lehi, UT; Klea (Bret) Wolz, Gillette, WY; LaRae (Christopher) McDaniel, Wichita, KS; and Anton (Susan) Tyler, Vancouver, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lorraine, their infant son, Lee, four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Butte Street L.D.S. Chapel (2300 Butte Street.) with Bishop Rdale Price officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and Saturday one hour prior to services at the church.
