Marie Wheatley

Marie Wheatley, 94, life long resident of Robin, Idaho, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013 at a care center in Pocatello, Idaho.

She was born on October 5, 1918 in Robin, Idaho, the daughter of Ross and Ethel Smith Henderson. She was the oldest of four children.

She attended grades one through eight at Robin Elementary and then on to Arimo High School to graduate in 1938 with 14 other students.

She married Wayne N. Wheatley on Oct. 4, 1939, in the Salt Lake Temple. They resided in Robin, Idaho, where they were very active farmers and ranchers. Wayne passed away on May 22, 2002.

She lived her entire life in Robin, except for one year in Pocatello when she first married and while serving a mission with Wayne to St. Geroge, Utah in 1986-1987.

She played basketball while in high school and enjoyed riding horses.

She quilted many blankets for family members and friends. She enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's sports events and other activities. She was an avid Utah Jazz fan.

She was very active in serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a Relief Society President, counselor in several others, and visiting teacher. She was a wonderful cook and canned much of her own fruit and vegetables.

Marie is survived by six sons, Byron W. (Marilyn) Wheatley, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Bruce H. (Darlene) Wheatley, Robin, Idaho; Stephen M. (Bonnie) Wheatley, Robin, Idaho; Richard (Patty) Wheatley, Pocatello, Idaho; Marshall L. (Tammie) Wheatley, Sidney, Montana; Ralph O. (Vauna) Wheatley, McCammon, Idaho; two daughters, Karen (Tab) Mendenhall; Lava Hot Springs, Idaho; Annette (Kirk) Christensen, McCammon, Idaho; sister, Onetta Howell, Portage, Utah; sister-in-law, Marilyn Henderson, Arimo, Idaho; 41 grandchildren; 111 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren;

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Douglas, grandson Dallin, brother DuWayne Henderson, sister Joyce Watson; sister-in-law LaRayne Henderson, 2 brother-in-laws, Larry Howell and Darrell Watson.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to extend special thanks to the Nurses and Staff at Encompass Hospice and Staff at Quail Ridge Assisted living for their tender care.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the L.D.S. Arimo Stake Center Arimo, Idaho with Bishop Kurttis Smith of the Garden Creek Ward officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the L.D.S. Arimo Stake Center and on Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Robin Cemetery.
