Mark David Swim

Mark David Swim, 33, of Sacramento, CA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, as a result of injuries sustained in an accident. Mark passed with his loving family at his side, after having spent the previous six days at Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento where he was surrounded by a seemingly never-ending stream of friends and colleagues who visited him and offered their love and support.

Mark was born on February 19, 1980, in Redwood City, CA, and was a graduate of Folsom High School (1998) and of California State University, Sacramento (2005), with a B.S. in criminal justice. Always so upbeat and vivacious, Mark was frequently known to spout phrases and remarks in German throughout everyday conversation - a language he mastered while serving in the Germany Hamburg Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1999 to 2001.

Mark had a burning passion for music; he loved nature, enjoyed camping, and was at his happiest when spending time with family and friends. Whether they had known him their whole lives or even just a few months, so many friends and co-workers described Mark as "one of the most easily likable people I've ever met." A man never too busy to talk or to listen, Mark lived his life with a warm and open heart, and his influence touched so very many lives.

Mark is survived by his parents, David and Karla Swim of Folsom, CA; sister Tory and brother-in-law Daniel Inloes of South Pasadena, CA; his grandfather Hugh Swim; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Adam, and cousins Kandiss, Miriam, and Christine.

Visitation will be held at the Folsom 6th Ward LDS Chapel (2100 California Circle, Rancho Cordova, California) on Friday evening, May 3rd, from 6:00 to 8:00 in the evening. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Folsom 6th Ward LDS Chapel (2100 California Circle, Rancho Cordova, California) with Bishop Brian Reynolds officiating. Graveside service and interment will be in the Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, Cemetery next to Mark's brother, Adam, on Saturday, May 11, at 11:00 a.m. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, Pocatello, Idaho. Remembrances may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children - Northern California at: http://support.shrinershospitals.org.
