Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Paul Webb Erekson, peacefully returned home to his Heavenly Father on October 11, 2025, at the age of 99 (two months shy of 100).
Paul was born on December 5, 1925, to Leslie H. Erekson and Grace Ethelyn Webb in Twin Falls, Idaho. He grew up with a strong sense of duty, faith, and love for his family and country.
As a young man, Paul served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. His time in the service deepened his gratitude for freedom and strengthened his resolve to live a life of purpose and faith.
Following his military service, Paul was called to serve a full-time mission in Norway for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His love for the Norwegian people and the gospel of Jesus Christ remained with him throughout his life, and he often spoke of those years with great fondness and humility.
After returning home, Paul married his eternal companion, Joan Lafount Richards, in the Salt Lake Temple on April 14, 1952. Together they had 4 children, Jon, Craig, Lori, and Lisa, and built a home filled with love, laughter, and gospel devotion. Their marriage was a true example of faithfulness, service, and enduring love.
As a result of overseeing construction work in Peru (Paul was an accomplished civil engineer), Joan and Paul sponsored the immigration and naturalization of 4 Peruvian children, Hilda, Gloria, Sofia, and Victor, who consider Paul and Joan as their American parents.
Sadly, Joan passed away from ovarian cancer on June 30, 1986. Paul subsequently married Valarie Louise Partridge on August 26, 1989 in the Atlanta Temple. They shared 36 wonderful years, enjoying life and their posterity before Paul’s passing.
Paul’s life was marked by quiet strength and steady service. He fulfilled many church callings and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether serving in his ward, community, or among his family, he exemplified Christ-like kindness and integrity.
He was known for his gentle humor, wisdom, and the calm reassurance he brought to those around him. His children and grandchildren will remember him as a man of faith, principle, and deep compassion.
Paul is survived by wife, Valarie; his three children, Jon, Lori, and Lisa; his 36 grandchildren; and his over 70 great-grandchildren, who will forever honor his legacy of faith and love. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; his son, Craig; his parents, Leslie and Grace; his sister; and his 4 brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Quinn Ward, 3444 Hawthorne Rd., Pocatello, Idaho 83201. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. Interment with military honors will occur the following day, Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Eastlawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, Provo, Utah.
Paul’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to Symbii, Enhabit, and Comfort Home Care for their kind service and support.
Though he will be deeply missed, we rejoice in the eternal promises of the gospel and take comfort in knowing that families can be together forever.
