Rex Reed Boren, 55 of Pocatello passed away August 3, 2017 at his home. Rex was born September 25, 1961 in Pocatello to Rex Martell and Velma Mae Boren.
Rex resided in Pocatello all of his life where he attended local schools and later met and married his teenage sweetheart Becky Monroe. They married in 1979 and remained married for 15 years. They had two children, Benjamin and Tisha. They later divorced but remained friends. He later became a grandpa to Tisha’s son Paecyn. Rex was, and has always been a very proud father and grandfather. He attended Idaho State University from 1989-1992 where he later received two certificates, one as a Welder Fitter and the other as a Structural Welder.
At the time of his death he was working at Amy’s Kitchen in the maintenance department. He also was previously employed with Kraft, Partner Steel, Simplot, Ore-Ida, Weight Watchers, US Transformer and Heinz. Rex received a number of awards and recognition certificates throughout the years.
Rex is survived by son Ben, daughter Tisha, grandson Paecyn, ex-wife and friend Becky, sister in-law Donna Boren, good friend Wendy Dickerson, brothers Kent (wife Bobbie), and Bruce, sisters Janele Clegg , sister DeNiece Boyer, Lorelei Bair (husband Del) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents Rex Martell and Velma Mae, sisters Deanna, Janet Hoke, Derena Eckerly Booth, brothers Sherrel and Kirk.
A memorial/celebration of life will be held at The Rock Church, 740 West Center Street in Pocatello on Saturday, August 26th 2017 at noon. Please come as you are to celebrate with us. Following the service will be a potluck.
