Ricki LeeAnn Shaffer

Ricki  LeeAnn Resue Shaffer, a bright light and best friend to all who knew her, passed into the arms of her loving Heavenly Father on the morning of October 21, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Ricki was born in Powell, Wyoming on February 6, 1963 to MaryHelen Wetzel Hampton and Dean Netherton. She spent most of her childhood in Southern California before moving to Blackfoot, Idaho in high school.

Shortly after graduating, she met her eternal companion and love of her life, Rex Shaffer and they got married right away. Rex and Ricki could not wait to start a family of their own and their children meant the world to them. Aubrey (Kevin) Petersen, Kandise (Caleb) Morton, and Jared (Keri) Shaffer completed their family.

Although she had much love for everyone, her grandchildren were the light of her life. Her favorite role was that of Grandma Ricki. She never failed to let them know how much she loved and cared for them. She had 12 granchildren: Aydin, Austyn, and Alexys Petersen; Shanda, Tyan, Drex, Buzz, and Hina Morton; Cooper, Clairalynn, Jett, and Mack Shaffer. They were the lucky ones to be her blood grandchildren even though many others called her “Grandma Ricki.”

She was an active, devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in many roles and capacities. Her favorites callings were the ones she spent serving the youth and young adults.

She will always be remembered for the love and energy she brought to everyone around her, even when she was struggling with her health. She gave the world’s best hugs and always had something positive to say. Everyone that met her was her best friend. She leaves a legacy in her community and family and Inkom will not be the same without her.

She is preceded in death by her mother, MaryHelen Hampton; a brother, Jerry Call; her grandparents Ross and Avis Stubbs, Jacob Wetzel and Martha Wetzel; her father-in-law Edward Shaffer; and brother's-in-law Stanley Shaffer and Wayne Lewis.

The viewing will be Wednesday, October 25 at 801 N. Rapid Creek Road in Inkom, Idaho from 6:00-8:00 p.m. On Thursday, October 26, 2023 there will be a viewing from 10:00-10:45 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 at the same location. Burial will be at the Inkom Cemetery following the funeral. A luncheon will be provided at the church after the services.
