Sidney William Painter

Sidney (Sid) William Painter (86), longtime resident of Pocatello, ID, passed away peacefully into the hands of his Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 15th, 2025 after a full life.

He was reunited with his beloved wife, Alice Faye (Larsen) Painter and his son John Andrew. (Andy) Painter, his parents, and 13 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughters Diana Painter, Katrina (James) Kay, and Kathryn Painter, and his grandsons Rhys & Everest Kay, and many nieces and nephews.

Sidney was born on May 16th, 1939 in Curtis, MI, but grew up mostly in Dearborn, MI. He attended Edsel Ford High School and played any sport that would let him, including multiple church leagues. He graduated from Edsel Ford High School in Lansing Michigan in 1956. Sid attended Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas but graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Michigan State in 1960. and Michigan State in 1960.

Sid served in the US Army and obtained the rank of Sergeant. He served in Germany from 1962-1964? Sid was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which he joined in 1974. He fulfilled a mission for the church in Virginia and Maryland 1974-1976. He met his wife at a singles ward dance in 1977 in Provo, UT. He and Alice both had attended the dance with different partners, and switched halfway through. Both couples went on to marry. Alice came with 3 young daughters, Jana, Kelly, and Gail.

Sid enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was active with his church and professional organizations. Although only given daughters, Sid loved the Boy Scouts, playing sports, time outdoors, and spending time with his in-laws and family. He retired from FMC Corp in Pocatello Idaho in 1996,

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Groveland Cemetery (425 W 200 Rd N, Blackfoot, ID 83221) where his body will be laid to rest next to his sweetheart, Alice and their baby boy, Andy.
