Wendell Jay Hall, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away on October 2, 2026, after a lingering illness. Jay was born and raised in Ogden, Utah, to his loving parents, Olie Hall and Nellie Stoddard.
Jay attended Weber College, where he excelled as a football player. He served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New England States Mission. Following his mission, Jay proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran.
Jay married Jana Kempter, and together they were blessed with five children: Jelayne, Janelle, Jenna, Wells Jayson, and Weston Jared. In 1995, Jay married Ora Mae Hyde, with whom he shared a loving partnership.
Jay had a passion for life and a variety of hobbies that brought him joy. He was an avid ham radio operator, a pioneer in home computing, and enjoyed reloading ammunition for handguns and rifles. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, photography, and crafting beautiful picture frames.
Jay is survived by his brother, Lewis Hall (Judy); his wife, Ora Mae Hall; his children, Jelayne, Jenna, Wells Jayson, and Weston Jared; and several grandchildren who will cherish his memory. He is preceded in death by his parents, Olie and Nellie Hall; his siblings, Roger Hall, Shauna Oglesby, and Lawanna Wright; and his beloved daughter, Janelle Riddick.
Jay’s legacy of service, love, and dedication to his family and faith will be remembered by all who knew him
